St Pancras guide
Which platform does the Eurostar leave from at St Pancras?
Platforms 5 to 10, every time. The harder question is which one, and that is the part the board keeps to itself until boarding.

Short answer: Eurostar trains leave London St Pancras International from platforms 5 to 10. You wait in the departure lounge underneath, and the platform for your train appears on the lounge screens when boarding opens, roughly 20 to 30 minutes before departure.
Platforms 5 to 10, upstairs from the lounge
St Pancras has more platforms than that, but the others belong to domestic trains. Eurostar departures always use 5 to 10, under the station's big arched roof. After the ticket gates, security and passport control you end up in the departure lounge, which sits below those platforms. Nobody goes up until boarding is called.
How you get up: travelators and lifts
There are no stairs or escalators from the lounge to the Eurostar platforms. Each pair of platforms (5 and 6, 7 and 8, 9 and 10) has its own way up, served by travelators (moving ramps) and lifts. That matters more than it sounds: when boarding opens, the whole lounge heads for the same few travelators at once.
- Pick the right pair. Your platform number tells you which access point to head for. Platforms 5 and 6 share one, 7 and 8 another, 9 and 10 the third.
- Pick the right travelator for your coach. Each platform pair has two ramps up. One is signed for the lower coach numbers (coaches 1 to 5), the other for the rest of the train. Check the coach number on your ticket and follow the signs at the foot of the ramps.
- Lifts are there for anyone who needs them, including with heavy bags or a pushchair.
Trains differ in length, so don't count on a particular coach being near either ramp. The signs at the foot of each travelator are the thing to trust.
Why you only find out at boarding
The departure lounge holds several trains' worth of passengers. If every platform were shown the moment it was known, people would queue at the travelators long before the train was ready to board. Showing it only at boarding keeps the lounge calm, at the cost of a short scramble once it appears.
If the platform changes
It happens occasionally, usually well before boarding, and the lounge screens and announcements will tell you. Once boarding has opened, a change is rare.
